Clive Cussler Audiobooks
Take A Break- Enjoy An Audiobook
Listening to audiobooks can be a great way to pass the time when in the car, taking a trip across town, or on a road trip. Rather than just listening to the radio, an audiobook can be fun and entertaining.
I have found that my local library is a great place to get audiobooks. They have a good selection and I can check them out for 3 weeks at at time, which is plenty of time to finish them. In addition, audiobooks can be purchased, downloaded, or rented. Just go to audiobooks.com.
I recently made a road trip and took along Clive Cussler's audiobook, Black Wind. I was tired of listening to my Ipod and I had run out of radio stations, so I began listening to the book. I was hooked within a short time. Just like I do with a good book I couldn't put it down. It took me about two weeks to finish the story, but I found myself taking trips in the car just to continue listening to the story.
When I listen to an audiobook, it's like I have a family of people in the car with an important story to listen to. It really does take the edge of, when driving. The narration keeps me entertained for hours.
If you're looking for a good book check out Cussler's Black Wind. It's about an international terrorist plot against the US, that goes back to WW2. I normally don't read these types of books, but this one had me hooked. Dirk Pitt, his sister, and father find themselves caught up in one conflict after another with the terrorists, intent on sending a biological bom against the U.S. The suspense doesn't let up until the end. I thought I had the story figured out, but the plot twists kept me guessing the entire time.
Black Wind takes place against a backdrop of submarines, oceanographic research, oil platforms, and espionage. It was a 13 CD set, and on the last CD I found myself wanting to slow the action down. I didn't want the story to end. I had gotten used to Scott Brick's excellent narration of the story. Each character came alive like they were all in the car with me. I look forward to Cussler's next book. He certainly has me hooked.
So, next time you're taking a road trip of just making a commute, take along an audiobook. It beats listening to the news or the same old radio stations. It's a great way to spend your time. Next time you're on a trip across town or on a road trip consider listening - itt will make your trip worthwhile.
