Certificate in Youth Leadership or Cert. IV in Youth Work (Australia)?
At the moment I'm planning on running Art/Crafts and Digital Imaging Workshops for youth aged 12-17 years (after completing one of these courses).
I prefer the look of the course outline for the Certificate in Youth Leadership, but it costs $2,899, whereas the Cert. IV in Youth Work costs just under $2,000 (which has confused me, because it is meant to be a higher qualification). Another thing, I'm pretty sure I wouldn't need the higher qualification, being self-employed, although I know it would probably be a good thing to have if the workshops are not successful and my partner can't keep his job in the mine.
I'd also like to do a course in Expressive Therapy for children and adolescence and I'd like to spend some time working in an Indigenous community. But I'm not sure if there would be any of that sort of work available. Could anybody give me any info on this?
Feel free to share any stories or experiences relating to courses or working with youth.
